We as believers must not approach these revivals or awakenings with judgment and criticism. We must approach them with an open heart to what the Holy Spirit is doing. Don’t approach the things of God with human logic or reason, just an open heart. We don’t want to miss a move of God.
If we find our hearts saying, “we’ve seen this before.” We need to ask the Lord to massage and soften our hearts, we need to say, “Lord, bring our hearts back to a place that is passionate and zealous for the adventure of a life with You.” Where has your journey with the Lord become predictable?
Read the parable about the “Weeds Among the Wheat” in Matthew 13: 24- 30; also 36- 43
Sometimes we look at these revivals and awakenings for just the hand of the Lord and no evidence of man but, here on earth we will only find a mix of the work of the Lord and the efforts of man.
Just as with the wheat and the tares, Jesus has planted good seeds, and the enemy has planted weeds. At these events, (and every church or place where the Holy Spirit is alive and well) you will find good seed and weeds. The parables says that Jesus leaves them alone to grow together. Falsehood and truth will stand together until Jesus comes back and separates them. Our job is to join the Lord in what He is doing and be among those who are standing in truth. Knowing that we will stand among false prophets (believers, preachers, teachers etc), should make us eager to be the opposite. We get to be true prophets etc.
We do not want to be like the Pharisees and Sadducees. In Matthew 12:24-32 they accused Jesus of delivering a man from a demon by the power of the devil. Jesus had a lot to say on this subject. Don’t stifle the Holy Spirit. The Pharisees and Sadducees were so stuck in their limited understanding that they completely messed the move of God happening before their eyes.
